The registers date from 1586, when a Consistory Court at Exeter seperated Golant from the rule of the monastery at Tywardreath and can be found in the Cornwall County records office, Truro. The flora and fauna are carefully managed as a "Living Churchyard".
Throughout year 2000 a photographic record was kept and two acclaimed volumes are on display in the Church. The view from the churchyard looking down to part of the Fowey estuary and the steep hills beyond is memorable.
The Vicars of Golant This plaque is in the Church and lists vicars from 1538 to 1974

Today the Church has a priest in charge whom it shares with he neighbouring parish of Fowey, an excellent choir and an enthusiastic group of bellringers. The peal of five bells can often be heard across the river on a Sunday morning. The Church is open every day of the year.
In the visitors book similar phrases and words reoccur. " tranquility...a haven of peace......thank you for being open........walking the Saints Way...... beautiful......a spiritual place....wonderful....worth the effort of climbing the hill from Golant..... a special part of Cornwall...."
